Coaching for those who work with adolescents . . .
Working with adolescents can be very rewarding and challenging. If you work with adolescents, you must already have a special place in your heart for those who are no longer children and struggling to understand what it means to grow into adulthood. Often, individuals who work with adolescents feel they need help with managing behaviors and communicating with this unique group of blossoming adults.
Adolescents walk and talk like adults and can even reason abstractly, but their brains are still "under construction" and they lack the life experience and emotion regulation skills to behave like adults. As you've probably experienced already, they not only ride their own emotional roller coaster, but they sometimes bring the significant adults in their lives along for the ride. As adults we may find ourselves triggered and before we know it, we're caught up in the emotions right along with them.
